Throughout the history of its cinematic universe, Marvel Studios has excelled at creating engaging, entertaining diversions, bringing dozens of characters to life in a string of blockbusters that feed into one another, like a cinematic perpetual-motion machine. What it hasn’t done is make movies that feel consequential. Sure, there was some commentary about war profiteering early on in the Iron Man films, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier glanced upon the idea of selling out privacy and freedom in the name of security. But more often than not, the studio’s films are primarily concerned with keeping all the narrative plates spinning on the long march toward the Thanos showdown that will finally start in Avengers: Infinity War.

Meet Ghost – The First Deaf K-9 In Washington State History

Early in his life Ghost found himself roaming the streets of Florida alone. Swamp Haven Humane Society found him and took him into their shelter. The only problem being that it was a kill shelter. Originally, Ghost was simply seen as an unadoptable animal. After all, the albino puppy was deaf, with bright white fur and reddish-brown eyes. He was a little ‘too’ full of energy, and displayed a lack of affection towards most people. Because of these factors, Ghost was scheduled for euthanization.

However, Swamp Haven Humane wanted to try one more time at finding Ghost his perfect ‘forever’ home. After reaching out and contacting various other shelters and adoption agencies around the country, they eventually got in touch with the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society. Catholic Church Concerned about Michigan Child Abuse Bill

The conviction of Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics national team doctor who is set to spend the next 40 to 125 years of his life in prison for decades of sexual abuse, prompted Michigan lawmakers to propose a bill that would retroactively extend the amount of time child victims of sexual abuse have to sue their abusers. The bill, which passed into law on February 20th, is concerning to the Catholic Church, who have shelled out billions of dollars to settle U.S. clergy abuse cases with the victims. Children May Now Enter National Parks For Free In Canada

The Federal Budget of Canada has been revealed for 2018, and with it the announcement of free national park admission for children.

The news came out early Tuesday, and was announced by the Canadian Federal Government. Free access to parks for kids was first noted in a speech by Canadian Finance Minister Bill Morneau. In his recent public address over the Liberal Party’s third budget, he mentioned that the previous ‘free-entrance’ program was such a success that the central government has decided to expand upon it. China’s Censorship Grows Amid Possible Lifelong Leadership

So it goes without saying that China has a lot of interesting things happening right now with their country and government. As of the past few weeks word has been let out that leader Xi Jinping may be in office indefinitely due to the possibility of presidential term limits being dropped totally, and the country as a whole has just gone ballistic with their use of censorship recently because of it. People are already calling this ‘The Great Firewall Of China’. And it probably won’t end anytime soon, this is more than likely just the beginning and who knows when this might start to calm down over there.

When we see cool technological advances in things such as movies and other media, it’s no wonder why we see these as a great model for what we want the future to be. However, the future may finally be starting to catch up. If you heard there were glasses that could potentially be used to identify people and help stop crime, wouldn’t you think it was the premise of some weird sci-fi film? Well, as it turns out, Chinese police may be turning that strange image into a reality.
