Saudi Woman Who Hopes to Inspire Others

On January 12, 2019, a young woman by the name of Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun fled her country, leaving behind her family. But, she was able to make it safely to a secure asylum in Canada. However, she left her family behind for distinct reasons. She was disowned by her family due to her not following her culture correctly. The reasons that follow were not her fault. She had allegedly said that they abused her and was only allowed to do certain things only by the permission of a male relative. 

In Saudia Arabia, women do not have the kind of freedom they have here in the U.S and Canada. Saudia Arabia “has a male guardianship system where the woman needs permission from a male relative for major life decisions like marriage, work and travel” (npr.org). Over there, women have no independence. Everything they do has to be approved by a male and it makes them not feel as equal to men. About the Super Bowl

With the Super Bowl closing in many people will be watching it on television and at the game. The Super Bowl is on February 3rd this year at Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta Georgia. The teams that are in the conference championship are Saints vs. Rams and Chiefs vs. Patriots. All these teams have high powered offenses and will most likely be some high scoring games. College Football National Championship

On Monday the Alabama Crimson tide took on the Clemson tigers in the college football national championship game. Both teams were 14-0 and only one could make history by going 15-0. Going into this game everyone thought it was going to be a close game. Both of these teams have high powered offenses and defenses so it would come out to which staff put together the better game scheme. These two teams are young and will have many players coming back next year as well too.

Fatal Crashes in Cincinnati

There have been numerous fatal car crashes in Ohio since December 2018. One crash was in Amelia on December 11, and this crash was a double-fatal crash involving three cars, in which drugs were a factor. The state route between Bach Buxton and Amelia Olive Branch were closed for several hours. This crash took place around 11:30 am. The cars involved were a Mazda, a Ford Escape and an Audi. The driver of the Mazda went left into the center lane and hit the driver of the Ford Escape, which then hit the driver of the Audi. The driver of the Mazda and the Ford Escape were pronounced dead at the scene. Needles were found at the scene and the driver of the Audi was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Cynthia Brown Clemency

Cyntoia Brown was sentenced to life in prison after she killed a man who had bought her for sex when she was only 16 years old. Following this week however, according to Tennessee governor’s office she has been granted clemency from governor Bill Haslam.  Brown who is now 30 years old, served 15 years in prison will be released to parole supervision on August 7 which is exactly 15 years later from the date she was first arrested. She will be held on parole supervision for 10 years if she does not violate any laws and maintains a job while participating in regular court sessions.
