Everybody’s Favorite Looks from the 2019 Met Gala

Everybody’s favorite Monday has come and gone as the Met Gala has once again shocked the fashion industry. Celebrating the launch of the Metropolitan Museum’s newest fashion display, celebrities and influencers collaborated with top designers to encompass this year’s theme, “Camp: Notes On Fashion.” The theme stems from Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay that defines camp as “love of unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.” Rather than pitching and tent and roasting marshmallows, camp in the fashion world is a word to describe the most extravagant, over the top outfits. Many celebrities in attendance are known for having a street style described as ‘camp’, so it was no surprise that this year’s pink carpet was one for the history books. HOMECOMING: A Film By Beyonce

On the one year anniversary of Beyoncé’s iconic Coachella performance, an in depth behind the scenes film was released on Netflix in order to allow fans to relive the historical moment. 2019 Pulitzer Prize Winners Announced

The Pulitzer Prizes were established 103 years ago in order to honor excellence in journalism and the arts. Presented annually by Columbia University, The 2019 winners were announced on Monday, April 15th, as newspapers and online publications around the country were recognized for the achievements regarding reporting and investigating that took place in the last year. Many pieces that were recognized included multiple month coverage, investigation and articles, some lasting up to 18 months. ‘The Lion King’ Trailer is Here

Excitement regarding Disney’s new live action movie has reached new heights as the trailer for the newest installment of ‘The Lion King’ was released. Only 100 days out from the official theater release on July 19th, fans are anxious to see one of their favorite childhood movies brought to life. Based on the trailer, it seems that the remake is a shot-for-shot recreation of the original 1994 classic.

Starring Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumba, and Beyonce as Nala, fans are excited to hear the new cast as the voice of their favorite wildlife characters. The trailer features realistic footage of the African savannah filled with giraffes, antelopes, and zebras. Beginning with a young Simba, the voice of Scar begins giving the cub some advice. “Life’s not fair is it, my little friend? While some are born to feast, others spend their lives in the dark, begging for scraps.” Fans also get to hear Mufasa’s voice, hinting at one of the most iconic lines of the movie while speaking wisdom to Simba. “You must take your place in the circle of life.”

As the largest college admissions cheating scandal is at the spotlight of news, many celebrities and CEO’s are under fire as they are accused of paying their children’s way to top universities in the US. Collectively paying $25 million to a college admissions counselor named William Singer, the case is under full investigation as it is reported that the universities had no knowledge of the wrongdoing. Instead, it was coaches and staff that were keeping this secret under wraps.

A Name and Religion is No Excuse for Misidentification

A once in a lifetime opportunity was ruined for activist and journalist, Noor Tagouri, when she was misidentified in printed copies of American Vogue. As a motivational speaker who is passionate about women’s rights, as well as the rights of minorities in America, Noor is hoping this opportunity will be an eye opener for society on the natural blind glance that occurs when it comes to those of other religions and race.

The video that shows Tagouris reaction to seeing the glaring mistake on her feature in Vogue went viral on Instagram and Twitter, fully bringing light to the issue. Award show season is upon us as the Golden Globes have kicked off the new year with a night full of homage, solidarity, and congratulations. If you are a regular Youtube watcher, or somewhat familiar with popular networks like Clevver or Smosh, then you are probably aware of their sudden halt on all media and productions.
