1. Sonic Drive-In
Sonic is a fast food joint like no other. There’s a wide array of food, from chili tots to classic Blasts (ice cream with toppings in it) to burgers and sandwiches to foot long hot dogs. There are also many unique flavors for the slushies if you’re not feeling the dairy, and you can even get nerds in your drink. Despite the food, which I think is great for fast food, the setting is extremely welcoming and exciting. You can choose to either go through the drive-thru or you can drive into Sonic’s special drive-in parking lots for the full experience, where your food is delivered to you on roller skates and you eat your food in the car. Sonic Drive-In just has good food, as well as a fun and unique setting, easily placing it on this list.
2. Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers
Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers is similar to Sonic, but opts more on food than setting. Freddy’s food is arguably much better than Sonic. This up in food quality also applies to Freddy’s ice cream (or custard), which is rich and thick. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the fries. Freddy’s fries are super thin and they serve them with cheese sauce, and it’s just amazing. Freddy’s setting is alright, with a dine-in and a drive-thru.
Now, this one can be debated. Some people don’t consider Chipotle a fast-food restaurant because most Chipotles don’t have a drive-thru. But, in my opinion, Chipotle is fast food because even though you have the option to eat in, your food is made as you order it, and most people take it home to eat. It’s ready to be made right as you walk into the door. Therefore, Chipotle is fast food. The food is pretty good, and it’s made exactly as you want it. You can get your own special order every time you go, or you can spice it up by getting something new all the time. Chiptole is always a fun experience, and it tastes great, so it gets a place on this list.
4. Sakura Japanese Grill
This is a personal favorite of mine. Asian food on the go, similar to Panda Express, but much, much better. From what I know, this restaurant is fairly unheard of. While it does serve carry out, Sakura also has a drive-thru. Their food is delicious, and it comes in pretty large portions that make the price well worth it. It also serves well as leftovers. Although Sakura is fast food, it’s not part of a chain, and is a locally owned Asian business solely located in Amelia.
5. Skyline Chili
Is it even a surprise that Skyline is on the list? While most people eat Skyline in the restaurant, you have the option to get food through the drive-thru. The food is also pre-prepared and is served pretty quick. The popular Cincinnati-based restaurant has amazing Cincinnati-style chili at a cheap rate, as well as their famous hot sauce and crackers as a nice appetizer. Skyline makes the list without a thought.
