The Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals faced off in a three game series. The Cardinals are at the top of National League Central while the Reds are trying to climb their way out of last place in the NL Central. Cincinnati took game one but St. Louis finished the series strong with two straight wins.
On April 26, the Reds started out hot scoring a run in the 1st inning. They padded their lead to 4-0 before the Cardinals scored their first run in the 7th inning. with the score being 4-1, the Reds added two more runs in the 8th inning and then tallied up six more in the 9th. The final score was 12-1. The winning pitcher was Anthony DeSclafani bringing his record to 1-1.
Saturday, April 27, Cincinnati struck first scoring two runs in the top of the 3rd inning. However, the Cardinals quickly answered back scoring three runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. St. Louis added three more runs and only allowing the Reds to score one more. The final score was 6-3 with the losing pitcher being Tyler Mahle, bringing his record to 0-3.
On Sunday, St. Louis scored five unanswered runs with two coming in the 4th and three coming in the 8th inning. Cincinnati didn’t give up but could only manage to score two in the 9th. Sonny Gray was the losing pitcher bringing his record to 0-4.
