Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, has recently finished his first stretch of the Loop transportation system. The system, located in Los Angeles, is aimed at reducing traffic emission by promoting clean, efficient public transit in the form of a tunnel loop system. It will take passengers, in their own cars or pods, under the city to bypass traffic. Musk has aimed to make a 2.7 mile loop in busy West Los Angeles but is driving to create a 60 mile loop, which will set it at the longest subway type system in the US thus far. The women’s soccer team goes into their last month of play with ambitions to improve to an above five-hundred record as they now sit at 4-7-1. The girls game October 2nd is a rematch to last years lost in which they were shutout 0-3. Their competitor, the Loveland Tigers, are a tough matchup, as going into Tuesday night’s game they are undefeated in the league, boast a record of 8-0-3 and are reigning state champs from the 2017 season. The start of the game brought out a lot of speed from Loveland as ten minutes into the game Katelyn Andrews scored and less than a minute later at 28:32 Lauren Williams scored.
The Lady wolves weren’t able to gain any more speed on Loveland as at 7:02 Kat Palmer scored for Loveland and again at 1:03 Katelyn Andrews scored another. In all the Lady Tigers were able to get 12 shots on goal in the first half and our Wolves were held to 1.
The girls defense came out strong but offense still lacked. Defensively, goalie Mackenzie Cellis was able to stop 18 shots on goal and reached a landmark career save record of 500. When asked how she felt she had this to say, “I’m incredibly thankful for my coaches throughout the years in helping me receive this milestone and pushing me to my limits and further. It’s been an amazing four years and I wouldn’t change anything about my experience as a keeper for West Clermont” While the second half only brought one goal from Loveland the Lady Wolves were still unable to score anything, getting one shot on goal. Senior Captain Megan Dewald commented on the game by saying, “Loveland is always a tough opponent. We combined and made some good plays happen, we just couldn’t get it in the back of the net. We had some mistakes with not taking marks but overall we all played hard and saw some god things that we’ve been working on in practice.” Hopefully the team can take what they learned from the loss and improve on it for the remainder of the year. The team now falls to 4-8-1 and will take on Northwest Saturday October 6th.
