West Clermont Track and Field has had a successful first year as a new team! All runners, throwers, and jumpers have reached new records and person goals and have excelled as a team, for many it is the first time in the ECC.
The season is not over yet, the team is still practicing everyday for the league meets this Wednesday and Friday for varsity. Also Jv league meet is this Saturday for West Clermont Wolves competitors. Varsity League meet will be at Anderson and Jv will be at Kings! The league meet is a meet where all the best runners in the league meet up for a final competition of the season. After league, most runners will be done However some will make it to Districts, Regionals and even State!
Some of the athletes to watch out for are Maddie Walker, Morgan Walsh, Victoria Washington, Davis Lagana and Devon Boykin in individual events. Maddie Walker is ranked high in the mile, after winning state for the mile during indoor track. Maddie is looking to do the same in outdoor track. Morgan Walsh is working hard to win state in the 800 after being ranked 2nd in the state with a time of 2:14. Victoria Washington a freshman hurdler is looking to get good times at both leagues and districts. Davis Lagana, also a freshman distance runner is looking to do well at the end of year meets to come up. Devon Boykin is looking to advance in the 400.
Also, many relays are looking to do well this week. The girls 4×1 including Chalel Crawford, Victoria Washington, Megan Dewald and Aubrey Troxell. The boys 4×8 Jesse Bingamon, Davis Lagana, Jonathan Adams, Kory Kaiser. The girls 4×8 is also looking to move to districts including Brooke Hall, Chloe Lehn, Morgan Walsh, and Maddie Walker.
Throughout the season, the girls have done well and have placed 2nd at the New Richmond and MIlford meet also, the boys placed 2nd at the Milford Meet. As a team both girls and boys will need big improvements in order to move on to regionals or state.
Team Members have enjoyed the season, Courtney Stewart says her favorite thing about track is “jumping hurdles and hanging out with other teams at meets” Landon Reveal Says his favorite thing about track is hurdles but I have recently discovered that I enjoy sprinting” Landon and Courtney both agree they have great coaches and love all the workouts.
