Do you ever just get tired from going to school and then a sport right after? Sometimes you feel like you don´t want to do homework when you get home because of exhaustion. Balancing your school work, personal life and your athletic commentment can be overwhelming and exhausting. Learning out how to manage everything can result in clearing stress and enjoying your highschool experience rather than dreading it. Success in both sports and academics comes down to working hard and and balance.
Staying on top of your school work and prioritizing it is the most important thing. You are are a student before you are an athlete. You can´t choose sports over academics because at the end of the day, you have to meet the gpa requirements in order to perform and participate on the field or practice. Both you and your coaches should know that schoolwork comes first.
Another way is to create a system once the day has ended. Learning how to mange your time is very important when handling multiple things. Once practice has ended, that doesn´t mean your day has ended, you still need to find the time and motivation to do school work. It´s important to always stay on top of your school work even when you find yourself struggling to have motivation to do it. Plan ahead and know when due dates are arising and game days. Using a calendar or an app on your phone can be an easy way to help you keep track.
Using your weekends wisely instead of laying around can be a huge way to keep up with school work. The weekends give you time to reset. Use the time on the weekends to catch up with schoolwork or do advanced schoolwork that is due later. Always take advantage of the free time that you have. Multi-tasking can work to your advantage too. While being on the bus to your game, you can also be working on homework or upcoming assignments and projects that are due.
Procrastinating can be your worst enemy. What you don´t do on that day just means it gets turned over to the next day. Procrastination can result in you having unnecessary stress and being overwhelmed with trying to do everything in one day. Always work ahead and try not to procrastinate, this can be used for anything, not just school work and sports.
Know your limits when it comes to school. Taking unneeded classes and advanced classes that you know you struggle with when involved in a sport can take a toll on you physically and mentally. Wearing yourself out and staying up all night to finish a paper will drain you and make it harder for you to concentrate in class the following day. Draining yourself can also make you exhausted for gameday. Know your limits and don’t attempt to exceed the them.

Use free time finish school work or plan ahead and get assignments done early. The weekend can be the time to catch up and help you reset. The last thing you want to do is to procrastinate when it comes to schoolwork and sports and anything else in life.
