The West Clermont lady Wolves pulled out a tough win on Saturday, September 23 beating the Fairfield Indians 2-1 putting them at 6-3-2. As Fairfield is in first place in their league, the Greater Miami Conference, they were expected to beat West Clermont. “It was a very intense game and they outplayed us in the first half but we came out strong in the second half.” stated Kendall Simpson, a defender for the Wolves. Simpson played a prominent role in not letting the opponent score goals.
Megan DeWald scored the first goal of the game for West Clermont with an assist from Anna Smith off of a free kick, inside the six. “We were down 1-0 at half, it was 92 degrees out and we played in the middle of the day. It wasn’t the easiest conditions to play in so when I scored a goal I was so happy because it gave us a chance. It really showed them that we weren’t going to back down. I’m so proud of my team for pushing through and winning. No matter what happens the rest of the season, I’m proud of us.”, says DeWald. Demi Mills scored the second goal for the Wolves. It was a beautiful shot to win the game just outside the 18-yard line. West Clermont is in a 2 way tie for 2nd place with the Milford Eagles, who they take on next on Tuesday, September 26 at West Clermont High School.
